When you live in Alaska, your relatives and loved ones are often far away. To compensate, I think that we form our own "families", choosing carefully and slowly over a period of time from the people that we meet. I feel very fortunate to have an Alaskan "family" - a chosen family of the heart. It is to my real family, and to my chosen family that this album is dedicated, in particular, Bruce, Caiti and Grady.

About the Cover:

The cover photo was taken at Crow Creek Mine near Girdwood, Alaska. The mine area was once a placer mining area built in 1898. The original buildings are now maintained as a National Historic site. Visitors can learn to pan for gold and then go mining by themselves at the original mine site. Other activities include hiking, wildlife viewing and camping.
